The Winter Session of the Karnataka Legislature will begin in Belgaum from today Monday and due to this session lasting till December 29, the governance of Karnataka will be conducted from the Golden Legislative Hall of Belgaum. All preparations have been completed and the state capital itself will be shifted from Bangalore to Belgaum for 10 days.
The work of the first week of the said two-week winter session will be of five days and the work of the second week will be of five days. Around 5000 policemen will be deployed for the smooth conduct of this convention and their accommodation has been provided at different places.
Apart from this, MLAs and senior officials have been accommodated in different big hotels. Also, the accommodation of the junior officials has been provided in different hotels and lodges and almost all the lodges in the city have been reserved for this purpose. On the occasion of the winter session, a space has been reserved for the protest by erecting a canopy in the premises of the Suvarna Vidhan Soudh. Around 63 protests will be held during the ten days of the session and 9 major marches will come to Suvarna Vidhan Soudha. Necessary preparations have been completed by putting up barricades etc.
This time around four new bills will be introduced in this session and the issue of North Karnataka will be discussed along with different issues. Basavaraj Horatti has been elected as the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Overall, for the next ten days, the governance of the state will be run from Belgaum. Be it the Belgaum border issue or developments related to the border issue, the development of North Karnataka or current political events, the winter session will discuss.
Tomorrow 19th December will be the first day of the session while on the other hand the Maharashtra Integration Committee will be having its general meeting. Preparations have also been made for the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti General Assembly. It has been decided that two leaders from Maharashtra, Ichalkaranji MP and Chairman of the Expert Committee on Boundary Issues Darhysheel Mane and Maratha Kranti Morcha’s Dilip Patil will attend the meeting.
Apart from this, other leaders of political parties in Maharashtra are also likely to attend this gathering. The Maha Mela will be held at the Vaccine Depot ground in Tilakwadi. However, formal permission has not been received from the Belgaum Municipal Corporation to hold a meeting on this ground and erect a canopy there.
