This offer is open till today, Saturday 11th February and till yesterday, Friday 10th February, 28 lakh 26 thousand 500 rupees have been collected by the traffic police for 12 thousand 760 traffic violation offences.
Penalty notices have been sent by the Traffic Regulation Cell (TMC) to motorists who violate traffic rules without helmet, no parking, one-way, triple writing and other types of traffic violations.
However, most of the vehicle owners have not paid this fine. Therefore, the government has given a 50 percent discount in the fine amount to recover this pending fine. Only 50 percent of the fine will be collected from motorists who pay the fine by today, Saturday, February 11. But even with such a discount in fines, the offer has not received much response.
Out of 6.28 lakh traffic violation cases in Belgaum city, only 12,760 cases have been disposed of till Friday. In order to collect the pending fine as much as possible, the traffic police have also come to the roads and have started impounding the vehicles at the right places.
At present, they are checking the registration number of the respective vehicles and how many crimes are registered against them. Vehicles of those who show inability to pay the fine are impounded and taken to the police station.
