Belgaum News-Around 40 cemeteries in Belgaum city are going to be transferred from Tehsil Office to Belgaum Municipal Corporation. In this regard, the action has been started from Thursday and the municipality’s revenue staff and Talathi conducted a joint inspection of the concerned cemetery.
During the said inspection, in which survey number are these 40 cemeteries, how much is the area of the crematorium, is there a crematorium in the respective area or not? The information about the encroachment on the said place etc. has been given to the Municipality by the Tehsildar Office.
Meanwhile, it is also clear that no encroachment has taken place during this inspection.
After completion of inspection by municipal revenue staff and Talathi, the cemetery will be taken over by municipal corporation. An order has been issued by the state government that the possession of the cemetery and its land under the possession of the revenue department should be handed over to the local body of the concerned city. According to this, Collector Nitesh Patil had issued an order to the tehsildars to transfer the cemetery occupied by the revenue department of the city to the municipality. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rudresh Ghali has appointed officers and employees of the revenue department for this process.
The 40 selected cemeteries are located in the suburbs of Belgaum city, including 1 at Kakati, 7 at Kanburgi, 4 at Majgaon, 7 at Khasbagh, 5 at Angol, 2 at Vadgaon, 2 at Madhavpur, 1 at Yamnapur, 6 at Belgaum city, 3 at Alarwad and There are 2 graveyards in Basavan Kudchi.
The villages which have been included in the Municipal Corporation a few years ago, mainly include the cemeteries in those villages. The maintenance of the two major cemeteries namely Sadashivnagar, Shahapur and some other cemeteries is also under the responsibility of the municipality and now the cost of maintenance of additional 40 cemeteries will increase.
