Belgaum Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced a 17 percent salary hike for government employees as an interim relief. An order in this regard will be issued immediately, he said while talking to reporters on Wednesday.
A committee headed by the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) will be constituted to study the new pension schemes in other states, financial implications and other issues and submit a detailed report thereafter, the Chief Minister informed.
The state government employees had called a strike to demand a pay hike and reinstatement of the old pension scheme. The state government has taken this decision to end this strike and the chief minister has announced this decision after a meeting with the officials of the finance department.
Also, the Chief Minister has also given instructions to the officials of the Finance Department to study the changes started in other states of India. After this announcement, the Chief Minister has appealed to the government employees to call off the strike.
