Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the film ‘The Kerala Story’ will be given tax exemption.
The Chief Minister tweeted about this in Hindi on Tuesday. Reacting to the UP government’s decision, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said, “It is a good decision to make ‘The Kerala Story’ tax free. I want people of Uttar Pradesh to see this film and understand how our sisters suffered. He said that we will also go and watch the movie. People of West Bengal also said that they cannot accept the ban on the film.
Directed by Sudipto Sen, ‘The Kerala Story’ revolves around the ordeal of converting to Islam and joining a terrorist organization.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has decided to ban the film citing “threat to law and order in the state”. Madhya Pradesh has already announced tax exemption for the film.
