Vehicles traveling through any wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka, including the black tiger reserve on the Ramnagar-Goa route, will now have to pay an additional toll. Therefore, since last Wednesday, the forest department officials have been charging the entry fee at Anmod from the motorists coming from Goa to Karnataka.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Bangalore has issued an order to collect toll from private vehicle drivers plying on roads passing through tiger reserves, national wildlife parks and sanctuaries in the state.
Accordingly, the forest department has imposed an entry fee (wild life entry) for the vehicles transporting on the Ramnagar-Goa national highway. This fee is being levied at the unmoderated inter-state check post of the forest department at this place.
According to the order issued by the forest department, an entry fee of Rs 50 has been imposed on vehicles carrying heavy goods and Rs 20 on small vehicles such as carts. However, government vehicles, local vehicles, government agency vehicles and ambulances are exempted from this fee. The Belgaum-Goa National Highway connects both the states of Goa and Karnataka.
The road from Ramnagar to Anmod on this national highway falls within the black tiger protected area. Therefore, this fee is being collected from the motorists coming from Goa to Karnataka at Anmode.
For this collection, staff working as watchers of black tiger protected areas have been appointed and three machines have been given to them for billing. Through that, receipt is being given to the vehicle owners.
