To supply Belgaum city with water for 24 hours, water bodies are being constructed at 9 places in different parts of the city and this work is going to be completed by July 2023. L&T Company has the responsibility of water supply to the city and by June 2023 water will be supplied to the entire city 24 hours a day.
In order to successfully implement the 24-hour water supply scheme for Belgaum city, currently 9 water reservoirs are being constructed at Vadgaon, Mrityunjayanagar, Udyambagh Ganeshpur-2, Kalmeshwarnagar, Devaraje Ars Colony, Kanburgi and Kaverinagar in the city. In the first phase, water reservoirs at Vadgaon, Mrityunjayanagar and Udiyambagh will be completed and their work will be completed by February. After that, the work of the remaining three Jal Kumbhs will be completed by the end of July 2023. Belgaum city is supplied with water from Rakskop and Hidkal reservoirs.
The population of Belgaum city is around five lakh and there are currently 72 thousand tap connections in the city. Apart from this, taps will be connected to 61 thousand houses under the 24-hour water supply scheme. There will be 24-hour water supply in 10 wards of the city and currently the work of digging and laying water channels is going on at various places.
Around 300 employees are working daily to carry out the said work. Meanwhile, the work of 24 hours water supply to Belgaum city from L&T company is going on at full speed.
9 big water reservoirs are being installed at various places in Belgaum city. L&T Managing Director Hardik Desai has informed that 24 hours water supply will be completed in Belgaum city by June 2025.
