A rate hike of one and a half to two rupees per unit from the four electricity companies in the state (Eskom).
has demanded The Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) will hold a public court from February 13 to March 1 to hear public objections to the tariff hike. Every year, Escosm submits a proposal to KERC for electricity tariff hike. Accordingly, a proposal has been submitted to increase the price from Rs 1.50 to Rs 2 this time as well. KERC will announce its decision after the public hearing.
KERC should decide on rate hike before the election code of conduct comes into effect. If the code of conduct is implemented, then the price hike cannot be done. Therefore, everyone’s attention has been drawn to whether there will be an increase in the electricity rate before the election or after the election.
