Four and a half hundred farmers registered objections…

For the second time, notices were issued to the farmers of Desur area for Belgaum Dharwad new railway line, the farmers have raised strong objections. More than 450 farmers registered their objections

Mamta Hosgauder, Special Land Acquisition Officer i.e. Belgaum Tehsildar Office registered the objections of farmers against Belgaum Dharwad New Railway Line.

Mamta Hosgauder said that farmers’ objections will be written to the Railway Board and the Chief Minister. Farmers warned that under no circumstances should we set foot in our fields for land acquisition, we will not allow this route to be made through our fertile fields, if any untoward incident occurs, district administration, MP Mangala Angadi, and General Manager of South Western Railway KIDB officer Dharwad will be responsible.

Former Union Minister of State for Railways late Suresh Angadi had announced that the work of Kittur Marg railway line would be taken up to reduce the distance from Belgaum to Dharwad, when the farmers had strongly opposed the route passing through fertile land and had conducted a survey at their own expense to show an alternative route. However, once again the notices for land acquisition were sent to the farmers for the last few months, and the farmers have given a rude reply and objected for the second time.

Gram Panchayat Member Prasad Patil, Former Taluka Panchayat Member Maruti Lokur, Parasharam Kolkar, Sangappa Kumbhar, Pundalik Melge, Subhash Kumhar, Shrikant Patil, Shivaji Patil, Sanjay Siddhani, Parasharam Jadhav, Appaji Patil, Kiran Londhe, Rajendra Patil, Member Ramdas Jadhav Sudhakar Patil, and other farmers were present.
