Belagavi, 22nd July 2023 – The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Maratha Mandal Engineering Belagavi commemorated the 18th Punyatithi of its esteemed Founder, Late Shri. Nathajirao Halgekarji, with a befitting Essay Competition. This event aimed to pay a heartfelt tribute to the visionary educationist who laid the foundation for rural education in the region.
Under the guidance of Principal Dr. D.G. Kulkarni, the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. The occasion allowed them to delve into the profound impact of Shri. Nathajirao Halgekarji’s life journey and his exceptional contributions to the advancement of education in rural areas.
The theme for the Essay Competition included two engaging topics:
- “Life in MMEC”: Students were encouraged to share their experiences and insights into the vibrant and enriching life at Maratha Mandal Engineering College.
- “Importance of Higher Education in Rural Areas”: Participants were prompted to reflect on the pivotal role of higher education in uplifting rural communities and empowering the youth for a brighter future.
The event was graced by the presence of staff coordinator, Prof. Sandhya Bevoor, and Head of the Department, Prof. V.K. Kakade, who extended their wholehearted support and encouragement to all participants. Principal Dr. D.G. Kulkarni, in his address, eloquently shed light on the remarkable journey of the founder chairman and the indelible mark he left on the landscape of rural education.
A solemn tribute was paid to Late Shri. Nathajirao Halgekarji as staff and students adorned his photograph with garlands of flowers, signifying their profound respect and admiration for his exemplary work.
