It is seen that most MLAs in the state have turned their backs on the Winter Session of the Legislature to be held at the Belgaum Suvarna Vidhana Soudh this year. There are a total of 210 MLAs of BJP, Congress and Nidharmi Janata Dal in the state and less than 100 of these MLAs have attended the first session of the ongoing session in Belgaum, i.e. in the first five days. 3.9 crore rupees are being spent daily on this convention.
In order to show that Belgaum belongs to Karnataka, Karnataka Government organizes winter session in Belgaum. The Winter Session of the Karnataka Legislature is currently underway at Belgaum Suvarna Vidhana Soudh. But it has become a topic of discussion as the attendance of the members of the House for this session is disappointing. Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and Nidharmi Janata Dal have a total of 210 MLAs in the state. In fact, all these MLAs were expected to attend the winter session of the legislature. However, less than 100 MLAs are attending the session in Belgaum from the very first day and the rest seem to have turned their backs on the session. However, despite the low number of MLAs, as much as Rs 3.9 crores are being spent on the convention every day without any compromise on expenditure.
The winter session at the Belgaum Suvarna Vidhana Soudha began last Monday, December 19. Since then, less than 100 MLAs had attended the assembly hall. Similarly, today is Monday. Only 93 MLAs have appeared in the House on the first day of the second session of the Assembly on December 26.
Following are the details of the number of MLAs present in the House every day (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday respectively) during the period from 19th December to 23rd December last for the winter session. BJP (119 MLAs) – 48, 41, 51, 36, 38. Congress (69 MLAs) – 37, 31, 39, 29, 22. Nidharmi Janata Dal (32 MLAs) – 8, 7, 5, 9, 6. In this manner, in the first session of the session, a total of 93 MLAs attended the assembly hall on the first day, 79 on the second day, 95 on the third day, 74 on the fourth day and only 66 on the fifth day, last Friday.
