Preparations are being made for the inauguration ceremony of the renovated Belgaum Central Bus Station (CBT) tomorrow, Tuesday 27th December by the Chief Minister and a grand canopy is being erected in the premises of the bus station.
However, Marathi has been sidelined on the board of Belgaum Central Bus Station and the board has been erected in Kannada and English, so Marathi speakers will be inconvenienced from the day of inauguration.
The inauguration ceremony of the renovated and modernized Belgaum Central Bus Station (CBT) will be held by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai tomorrow, Tuesday, December 27 at 6 pm. On this occasion, almost all the ministers and MLAs attending the winter session in Belgaum will be present. Preparations are currently underway for the grand ceremony. Accordingly, a big awning is being erected in the bus station premises. Similarly, the entrance of the bus station is being beautified by erecting a welcome arch.
Belgaum Central Bus Station (CBT) renovation work started on 28 January 2017. The contractor was given two years to complete this renovation work. But after 5 years without that happening, now this bus station is being inaugurated. Although the basic infrastructure to make the bus stand operational and the station building are ready, some other works are yet to be completed.
A fund of Rs.32,48,54,759.59 has been spent for the renovation of Belgaum Central Bus Station and the contract for this work has been awarded to Mansaram Vikram Pawar (Harsha Construction Private Limited). They have converted the old bus station into a modern bus station. The modernized Belgaum Central Bus Station has a total of 41 bus stands along with bus parking and circulation space.
Similarly, auto rickshaw lanes, taxi parking lanes, basement parking for private vehicles, arrival and departure gates for passengers, waiting area for passengers in the terminal building of the bus station, ticket / reservation counters, clock room, first aid room, waiting room, drinking water for passengers, toilets, passenger accommodation etc. Facilities, canteen, shops, administrative office, parcel office etc. have been provided.
