Meanwhile, something happened today in Udiyam Bagh area, due to which the traffic police had to withdraw their action. The traffic police intercepted a motorist after seeing a foreign vehicle. Sensing the usual annoyance of the traffic police, the driver asked the reason behind his obstruction. At this time, the driver was asked about the documents.
Despite submitting proper documents, the police chased the driver. But since there is no fault of ours, what is the fault of the said vehicle driver? Asked this. The traffic police are collecting fines from motorists at a discounted rate.
Fines are levied on motorists violating traffic rules, detected by CCTVs installed in the city. About 26 crores of such fine is pending in the city. The court has given 50 percent discount for paying the old fine. As many motorists are reluctant to pay the fine, now the traffic police has taken a different tack.
All the motorists are being stopped by the traffic police stationed at various places in the city. Earlier, anyone who did not wear a helmet was stopped and his documents were checked. But, now all vehicles including helmet wearers are being stopped. License, RC card, pollution certificate are being checked though helmet. Even with all these documents, does this vehicle have any old penalties? It is also being tested on mobile. Police are saying that if there is an old fine, then 50 percent discount has been given for it and pay it. Such fines are being paid by many. But, in some places, the motorists are arguing with the police.
