Collector Nitesh Patil expressed the view that Halga-Machhe bypass or ring road or Dharwad-Belgaum railway line are ambitious plans of the central government and are important for the overall development of Belgaum. A petition has also been filed in the court regarding the Halga-Machhe bypass and the said work has not started yet. This work has been adjourned by the court.
A tender notice has been sent for the ring road and the work has not yet started. There is opposition to any scheme or project in the initial stage but we will definitely try to change the minds of the farmers. Millions of people want these projects. But this project is being opposed by the farmers themselves and a suitable solution will be taken after discussions with the National Highway Authority and the Railway Department. Compensation has been announced in the preliminary phase and the issue of increased demands of farmers and other demands will also be raised in the meeting to get these projects on track. The District Collector also said that the necessary documents in this regard have been sent to the National Highway Authority and the Railway Department by the State Government.
Bypass work is suspended. Therefore, this operation is closed. However, a notification has been announced regarding the ring road and a tender notice has also been sent. The said work is likely to start anytime, said the District Collector.
Commenting on the farmers who have taken a vow that they will give their life once but never give their crop land, the collector said, the work of the ring road has not started yet. But once the work starts, many problems have to be faced. It has been demanded that fertile lands should not be acquired for these projects and the Collector expressed the opinion that these projects are necessary for the development of Belgaum.
All-round development of Belgaum can be achieved due to these ambitious projects of the central government, but after looking at compensation to the farmers who are part of the project and their increased demands, the issues will be raised in a joint meeting with the Railway Department and the National Highway Authority, and a solution will also be found, he assured. Given by the District Collector.
