Chennai: Tamil superstar Vijay’s next film ‘Leo’ has reportedly collected Rs 246 crore from digital rights, satellite and music rights.
Directed by Tamil super director Lokesh Kanakaraj (previously in the news for ‘Vikram’) the film has collected huge amount right after the announcement promo of the film.
Kamal Haasan starrer Kanakaraj’s previous film ‘Vikram’ shattered collection records. ‘Leo’ teaming up with Vijay is heading in the same direction.
According to Tracktollywood.com, the film was made at a cost of around Rs 250 crore and has already collected Rs 246 crore. The film’s digital rights fetched Rs 150 crore while its satellite rights yielded Rs 80 crore and music rights led to a collection of Rs 16 crore.
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is the anti-hero in the film and the Hindi dubbing rights have earned him huge money.
Kanakaraj and Vijay’s last film ‘Master’ was a blockbuster success and expectations are high for a reunion for ‘Leo’.
Sources in the Tamil film industry said that such a huge collection was not expected at the initial stage of the movie’s promo.
The film also sees Vijay and Trisha reuniting after 14 years. Starring Arjun Sarja, Mansoor Ali Khan, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Priya Anand.
Meanwhile, the YouTube promo of the film has also become a huge hit globally, surpassing the views of Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Jawaan’ and ‘Tiger 3’.
