Prayag Raj: The Samajwadi Party’s Prayagraj unit termed the news that actor Abhishek Bachchan will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as a Samajwadi Party candidate from the Prayag Raj constituency as a ‘mere rumour’.
“We have not received any recommendation in this regard,” said a party functionary. A section of the media had claimed on Saturday that Abhishek will be the SP candidate from Prayagraj.
Samajwadi Party city president Syed Iftikhar Hussain said, “The national president of the party, Akhilesh Yadav, will decide who should be fielded from the political field. Although some media have reported that Abhishek will be fielded from Prayagraj in the next general elections, we have not made any such recommendation. This news is completely speculation.
