The women and child welfare department has decided to shift the Anganwadi centers located in rented buildings to nearby government school buildings. Accordingly, now government schools have to provide a room for Anganwadi.
There are 5,332 Anganwadi centers in Belgaum district. Out of these more than 2 thousand Anganwadi centers are being set up in rented buildings along with village temples, community buildings and other places.
Therefore, the Department of Women and Child Welfare has to pay a huge amount of rent every month for the centers located in rented buildings. This is why Anganwadi centers are running in rented buildings. It has been decided to shift those centers to the government school building in the village.
Anganwadi centers in all parts of the state will be merged with schools. The number of students in many schools has decreased due to the increasing trend of parents towards English medium schools. Therefore, since the rooms in many schools are empty, there will not be any problem in shifting the Anganwadi centers to those schools, an official of the Women and Child Welfare Department is expressing the opinion.
Meanwhile, if the Anganwadi centers are shifted to government schools, the children will get this guidance from the Anganwadi staff as well as the teachers. Therefore, the decision to shift Anganwadi centers to schools is welcomed.
