Conversion case through gaming app handed over to NIA

New Delhi: The case of child conversion through gaming app ‘Fortnite’ is likely to be transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a source said on Thursday. NIA team is already assisting Uttar Pradesh Police in this matter, police said.

“Since the link between hardcore Islamic preachers Zakir Naik and Tariq Jameel has come to the fore, there are high chances of the case being transferred to the NIA. Shahnawaz Khan, also known as ‘Baddo’, the mastermind of the gaming app, is thinking of issuing a lookout notice as there is a possibility that he might be absconding abroad. At present, the police are conducting raids for Shanwaz in many states across the country, he said.

Baddo is a resident of Thane in Maharashtra and has absconded from there. In connection with the case, the police arrested a cleric (maulvi) in Ghaziabad on Sunday.

It is said that Khan was close to the arrested cleric. Ghaziabad police received information about the conversion of four minors from different parts of the country.
