Belgaum-As soon as the newspaper and media raise their voice, they are turned off, taking note of the street lights that burn in broad daylight in the city. However, in the case of HESCOM office at Goave’s Tilakwadi, there is a kind of ‘darkness under the lights’.
The officials and staff of this place are so desperate that a halogen streetlight just 500 meters from their office has been burning 24 hours for the past few months, but they have clearly ignored it. As a result, thousands of units of electricity are being wasted.
The halogen street lamp at the end of Gawli Galli Jukarpur Peth near Mangalwar Peth Bhangibola in front of Divine Providence School in Goawes Tilakwadi has been burning 24 hours a day and night for the past few months.
After repeated complaints in the past, a conscious citizen has recently lodged a complaint in this regard with the HESCOM officials and their superiors at the Grievance Room of the HESCOM office at Goawes. The employees there have also given the number 179 of the complaint registered in the register. But till today that street light has not been repaired.
Hescom’s grievance redressal cell is just 500 meters away from this street light, yet thousands of units of electricity are being wasted due to its lack of repair. As a result, common citizens will have to bear the brunt of this wasted electricity in the form of municipal tax.
However, social activist Deepak Awarsekar and conscious citizens of the area have demanded that the relevant senior officials should pay serious attention to this and switch off the high pressure halogen street lamp burning 24 hours a day to save electricity.
