Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt has informed the Rajya Sabha that a total of 1.55 lakh posts are vacant in the Indian Army. By knowing the following information about how many posts are available in which branch of the army, candidates can make necessary preparations to join the said posts, prepare for the competitive examination. The Government may issue notification to fill up the posts as per requirement anytime.
Vacancies in Army: More than 1.36 Lakhs.
Posts in Army JCO and other ranks : 1,27,673.
Posts in Army Dental Clinic : 8,129.
Posts in Army Nursing Service Department : 509
Civil Services Group A Posts: 252
Civil Service Group B Posts: 2,549.
Civil Service Group C Posts: 35,368.

What are the Qualifications for Army Medical Officer Posts?
Must have passed MBBS / Medical Post Graduation to apply for these posts. MBBS degree candidates should not exceed 30 years of age
PG degree candidates should not exceed 35 years of age.
What are the posts of Group C in Army Ordnance Corps Centre?
There will be Tradesman Mate and Fireman (Group C Posts). Tradesman Mate has a pay scale of Rs.18000- 56900, Fireman Rs.19900 – 63200. Selection for these posts will be conducted through written test and physical fitness test. Must have passed matriculation from recognized educational institutions to apply for the post.

What are the qualifications to join army through NCC Special Entry Scheme?
Candidates should be National Cadet Corps. Must have passed Degree/Equivalent Qualification with minimum 50% marks. Must have served at least 2 or 3 years in NCC Senior Division / wg. Must have secured ‘B’ Grade in NCC ‘C’ Certification Examination. Candidates who have not obtained NCC certificate are not allowed to apply.
