Various organizations in the district are aggressive against the increase in electricity rates

The government has suddenly hiked the electricity tariff by 30 to 65 percent. As the government has done the work of putting the people in trouble by this unjust price hike, the Chamber of Commerce Hospitals along with all the industrial and commercial organizations of the district and other organizations will jointly take out a silent march to the Collector’s office tomorrow, Tuesday 13th June, and submit a statement to the government.

The above information was given in a press conference held on Monday morning at Kannada Sahitya Bhawan, Kittur Rani Channamma Circle in the city by a forum of various organizations in the district to raise their voices against the recent hike in electricity rates and the unfair and unusual charges being levied by Iscom operating across the state. Unreasonable electricity tariff hike in the state has adversely affected the entire society as well as the industrial and commercial sector.

It is necessary to raise voice against this suddenly imposed burden of electricity price hike. Already faced with power price hike, the industry and trade sector along with the common man are reeling and are finding it difficult to cope with the current exorbitant rate hike of the FPPCA. Then the government should intervene and withdraw the unreasonable electricity price hike immediately and resolve this problem within a week.

Otherwise, our warning to the government is that we will have to launch a state-wide agitation against this price hike. For this, it was clarified that all the organizations in the district have decided to take the following actions.Hescom

1) Tomorrow Tuesday 13th June at 10:15 am a memorandum will be presented to Belgaum Collector, HESCOM, concerned Ministers, MPs and MLAs of the district through a silent march. In this march starting from Channamma Circle, all the organizations of Belgaum district and HESCOM customers will participate and register silence. 2) The authorities will be given a week’s time to withdraw the electricity tariff hike. 3) If no action is taken by the authorities, strict measures of protest will be adopted including the weapon of shutting down all industrial areas and businesses across the state at times.

4) Similarly, the doors of the court will also be knocked against the unjust electricity tariff hike. It was requested in the press conference that the government should please look into this matter immediately and give relief to the people of the state by withdrawing the price hike. Officials of Belgaum Chamber of Commerce and Industries along with various industrial and businessmen of the district and other organizations were present on the occasion.
