The police seized 9650 grams of silver jewelery worth Rs 6 lakh 68 thousand 900 from a Maharashtra Transport Board bus going from Kolhapur to Gadhinglaj at Kognoli check post yesterday evening.
The brief information about it is that a Maharashtra Transport Board bus going from Kolhapur to Gadhinglaj hit National Highway no. 4 above Kognoli was stopped for inspection at check post location. During the investigation conducted by the police at that time, 9650 grams of silver jewelery worth Rs 6 lakh 68 thousand 900 was found with the passenger Hariram Shankar Mali (Rest Kolhapur).
As the gardener was unable to provide adequate explanation and necessary documents regarding the said jewellery, the police seized the silver jewellery. On this occasion, District Police Chief Dr. Sanjeev Patil was also present.
In addition, an amount of Rs 8 lakh was seized from a bus of the Karnataka Transport Board at the Kognoli check post last Saturday around 12 noon.
When the police stopped the bus at the check post and checked it, the cash of 8 lakh rupees was found in the possession of Jingonda Annasaheb Patil (Rest. Pangir Distt. Chikkodi) who was going to Nipani from Kolhapur. Due to lack of adequate explanation and necessary documents regarding the said amount, the police confiscated it.
