Belgaum : Congress has got a clear majority in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and now the Congress will form the government soon. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will announce the name of the Chief Minister and D. K. A dilemma has arisen to choose a leader between Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah.
All the newly elected Congress MLAs from Karnataka met at a hotel in Bengaluru for the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on Sunday. The meeting lasted till half past one and was attended by leaders like Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar, KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh. Along with him, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Sushil Kumar Shinde and party leader Jitendra Singh and Deepak Babaria were present in the meeting as observers.
During the CLP meeting, all MLAs unanimously authorized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to choose the next Chief Minister of Karnataka in a one-line resolution and the name of the new Chief Minister of Karnataka is likely to be announced today.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has left for Delhi High Command to discuss the post of Chief Minister. MLA Jameer Ahmed has also traveled to Delhi with him.
