A bus driver who was seriously injured in a fire that broke out due to a leak in a gas cylinder in Gandhinagar died in a private hospital and his wife’s condition is still critical.
The name of the unfortunate bus driver who died without benefit of treatment has been identified as Manjunath Narsappa Athani (age 40, Res. Subhash Galli Gandhinagar). Last Saturday morning, four members of the same family in Gandhinagar were severely burnt when a fire broke out while they were in a hurry to go to work.
Among these injured, Manjunath died late last Saturday night and his wife Lakshmi (age 36) is in critical condition. Athani couple’s two children Vaishnavi (13) and Saikumar (10) were also burnt in the accident, but their condition is out of danger, medical sources said.
The incident of fire has been registered at Mal Maruti Police Station. Meanwhile, Belgaum North MLA Raju Seth visited the incident site yesterday and inspected it.
