Adipurush movie hurt Hindu sentiments: PIL to Delhi High Court

New Delhi: A right-wing group filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court on Friday seeking a direction to remove the objectionable scenes from the film Adipurusha, which featured characters like Rama, Sita, Ravana and Hanuman in an objectionable manner.

Directed by Om Raut, the film released nationwide on Friday. But the organizations have said that the film has not shown religious figures in the epic ‘Ramayana’.

The PIL filed by ‘Hindu Sena’ president Vishnu Gupta names film directors and producers as respondents. Ramayana characters like Maharishi Valmiki and Saint Tulsidas are portrayed in an objectionable manner. The petitioner claimed that the film hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community.

“The bearded appearance of the character of Ravana played by Saif Ali Khan in the film hurts the sentiments of the Hindu community and wrongly portrays the Hindu Brahmin Ravana with a ferocious face, which is a complete insult to Hindu civilisation, Hindu religious figures,” the petition said.
