100 more sweepers will be recruited in Belgaum Municipal Corporation and the notification has been issued by the Municipal Corporation.
The last date for filing the application for the said recruitment is 13th February, however, the cleaners who are getting salary online from the municipal corporation and doing city cleaning work on contract basis will be given priority in this recruitment. This recruitment will be done by the municipal commissioner.
The number of sweepers who draw online salary is 538 out of which 100 will be retained in the service, so there will be intense competition among the workers. According to the population criteria, 393 posts of sweepers have been approved for Belgaum Municipal Corporation.
At present, the Municipal Corporation has only 127 regular sweepers and 153 workers are being recruited. As the number of sweepers on the verge of retirement is high, the Urban Development Department has approved the recruitment of 100 more workers. So the recruitment process has started. As the roster will be implemented in this process, all categories of sweepers will get an opportunity.
However, the Municipal Corporation has decided to give priority to online salary earners only. This will cause injustice to around 700 sweepers serving the contractors.
