ANPR cameras keep an eye on traffic violators

Belgaum : Belgaum City Police Commissionerate has invited tenders for installation of 200 more Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras to prevent traffic violations.

Belgaum City Police Commissionerate has floated a tender for supply, installation and comprehensive maintenance of Automatic Number Plate Recognition Software (ANPR) Camera and Lane Discipline ITMS in Belgaum district at Honga, near Suvarna Soudh, 5 km from Hirebagewadi, Ambadgatti 19 km from Hirebagewadi, Tegur Belgaum- Cameras will be installed at Dharwad border and other places.

The ANPR system will work on the AI-DL platform to capture accurate vehicle number plates. The system will be developed and built on an operating system agnostic platform, and the system will work on server and storage solutions. The system can automatically detect the number plate by detecting the vehicle in the camera view using video detection.Cop bgm

The system will be able to detect and recognize English alpha numeric license plates in standard font and format for vehicle classes like Car, Heavy Commercial Vehicle, Three Wheeler and Two Wheeler.

Similarly, it will also detect vehicles without number plates and provide alerts with video and snapshots of the vehicle. With the ANPR system, it is hoped that in the future, ANPR cameras at various places in Belgaum will bring discipline to the traffic.
